My psychology text book has just informed me that "Vomiting prevents the absorption of only about
half of recently consumed food, and laxatives and diuretics have negligible impact of caloric intake, so people suffering from bulimia nervosa typically maintain a reasonably normal weight." Just putting that out there.
I took today off to study for my calculus test, which is tomorrow which I haven't studied all week for, which I'm probably going to fail anyway, which means I am most likely going to drop the course and take it in the summer or next year. Better than bringing my GPA down...
It's true. And bulimics develop complications much more rapidly as well. It's scary.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your test, maybe you'll pass and not have to repeat. You can do it!
Damn it, that's the main problem! Bulimia seems like the solution to so many problems, but it really achieves very little. But again, it's an addiction, and there's no rationalising an addiction!
ReplyDeleteI hope your test goes ok, I'm sure you won't fail

Much, much better than bringing your GPA down. I feel like calculus should only be taken when it can be given the main priority and focus of school.
ReplyDeleteThat is such an obnoxious fact about Eating Disorders, the physical war and the mental war are not necessarily compatible.
I heard when you throw up your body retains at least 1200 calories to deal with the fact all this food is being rapidly removed from your body. Could be a myth though! One reason I've never bothered to throw up - that and I don't think I have the guts to :( (pun not intended)

I already knew that. Knew that before I starting vomiting my food. Still would rather not having it in me. They say that if you can wait for a half hour after you eat then it's basically to late to purge, as most the calories have already been absorbed. I just enjoy the feeling of getting it all out of me to much to really care. I may have consumed the calories but damn the food does not need to sit and rot in me. But that's my own fucked up mind.
ReplyDeleteFML thanks for the reality check
ReplyDeleteWow thanks for the info. I'm not bulimic, but I was - though my calorie intake was low as well as making myself sick that's why I lost weight. But it makes sense otherwise. That's really interesting... anyway you won't fail!! Ok? <3 xxx
